Islam Religion

                                                             Islam Religion
The word 'Islam' has been derived from an Arabic term, which means "to surrender". Quran states "Islam is to testify that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, to perform the prayers, to pay the zakat, to fast in Ramadan, and to make the pilgrimage to the House if you are able to do so." This statement clears the fact that Islam is a monotheistic religion, according to which there is only one God and that is Allah. There are around 0.9 million - 1.4 million followers of Islam across the globe, thereby making it the second largest religion in the world.

It is believed that to the last prophet of Islams, Prophet Muhammad was revealed the Quran by Allah himself. It was Muhammad along with his companions, who penned down Quran, wherein lies the teachings of Allah.
Like the sacred Gita is to Hindus and Bible is to Christians, similar importance is held by Quran in the lives of Muslims. In Quran, there is a mention of 'Five Pillars of Islam'. These five pillars stand for : 'Prayers' (Namaz), 'The Pilgrimage' (Hajj), 'Faith', 'The Fast' and 'The Zakat'. Any one who follows these five pillars of Islam is considered as a Muslim.

There are two major sects in Islamic religion : Shia and Sunnis. Shia Muslims have different set of ideologies and beliefs. Shia Muslims believe in divine justice and thus have Imams as their spiritual leaders. Whereas, Sunni Muslims believe in the idea of predestination. But, nonetheless, they all have faith in the Angel of Islam, who is the messenger of God.

All festivals of Muslims have deep connections with their religion.
